John Smith
President
After graduation from The University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) degree, John moved to Toronto to join the actuarial consulting firm, William M. Mercer Ltd. In 1972 he returned to Winnipeg and joined Great-West Life. Since then, John has held many managerial positions mainly in the retirement, marketing and investment divisions, including three years in Denver, Colorado with Great-West Life’s U.S. operations. Since 1986 he has been associated with GWL Investment Management Ltd. (GWLIM). John was promoted to President of GWLIM January 1, 2000.
